We all love movies. But which are the ones that we really like? They are the ones we relate to. They let us know that we are not alone. And there are people who feel the same way and have been in the same situations. These movies quickly become your comfort movies. Once in a while, I just love to visit them and smile at the dialogues and scenes I’ve seen multiple times. There is nothing more soothing than to see a person that perceives the world in the same way you do. Often these aren’t cinematic masterworks but grounded films that simply create a special place in our heart.
As an introvert, often a time comes when I want to watch a movie that truly relates. But I also want the movie to be good and worth watching. The one which has a good plot, memorable dialogues and most importantly relatable characters. Just to make things clear, there are more movies which are “based on introverts” but aren’t good as a film. This is a list of some beautiful movies which are really good and at the same time, such that introverts are going to love them. I hope that you’ll not only appreciate but love this article.
Her
Director: Spike Jonze

Spike Jonze’s ‘Her’ truly takes your step back into considering having a relationship with an Artificial Intelligence operating system (If it would have been possible today). Theodore Twombly is a lonely, introverted person who works in a company called BeautifulHandwrittenLetters.com where he writes intimate letters for people who are unable to write them to their better halves. He takes the leap to acquire the groundbreaking OS1, marketed as the world’s pioneering artificially intelligent operating system, one that boasts, “It’s not merely an operating system; it’s consciousness itself.” With Samantha, the voice and personality behind his OS1, Theodore becomes irresistibly captivated.
As their interactions become more frequent, Theodore and Samantha’s bond deepens, evolving into an unexpected love. This affection for an operating system, however, ushers Theodore into a realm of emotions marked by both exhilaration and uncertainty.
“Sometimes I think I have felt everything I’m ever gonna feel. And from here on out, I’m not gonna feel anything new. Just lesser versions of what I’ve already felt.”

As Anna uncovers the mysteries surrounding Marnie and the Marsh House, she learns valuable lessons about friendship, family, and self-acceptance. The Perks Of Being a Wallflower

For Fans of : Teen Romance, Awkward and Shy Character
Where to Watch:
This story is based on a novel written by Stephen Chbosky. It’s all about Charlie, a sweet and slightly awkward 15-year-old outsider who’s just trying to find where he fits in. He’s dealing with a lot – first love, the tragic loss of his best friend, and even his own mental illness. Two seniors-Sam and Patrick, take Charlie under their wing and show him the ropes of the real world. It’s a heartwarming tale of friendship and finding your place in the world.
This is one of my comfort movies that is really close to my heart. In a way because I can relate so much with the characters.

“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” is a thought-provoking romantic sci-fi film. The story revolves around Joel Barish and Clementine. “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” is a complex and emotionally resonant exploration of love, memory, and the human experience. The movie has many relatable dialogues and Carrey along with Winslet show their unusual beautiful connection in the movie. If you are missing someone you have lost, you must check this one out.
“Constantly talking isn’t necessarily communicating.”
American Beauty
Director: Sam Mendes
For Fans of : Transition in Character, Life-Changing Movies
Where to Watch:
American Beauty is one of my favourite movies. It is named after a type of rose that is gorgeous in its appearance but tends to rot beneath the roots. “Look closer,” tells viewers to look past the appealing facade of suburban life to the dark side of its root.
Lester Burnham (hero of the film played by Kevin Spacey) is a 42 years old magazine executive who hates his job and is in an unhappy marriage with Carolyn, an ambitious real estate broker. Lester Burnham is tired of living his monotonous life. “In less than a year I’ll be dead,” he tells us about his perception of life “And in a way, I am dead already”.
Both Carolyn and his daughter Jane think Lester is a loser and is almost inexistent to them (for their own reasons). But Lester’s life absolutely changes when he meets his daughter’s friend, his divine love- Angela at a school event where he is taken despite his disinterest. She is stimulus enough for him to wake up from a marriage-long coma and consider life’s livelier possibilities. He gets this freedom that he had never experienced in his life. But beyond all this American Beauty is much deeper and is a movie that has changed the way I look at life.

However, their lives take an unexpected turn when “I” discovers Sakura’s diary, which reveals a shocking secret. She is suffering from a terminal pancreatic illness with limited time to live.
Despite the initial shock, Sakura decides to confide in “I” about her condition, and the two embark on a journey together. As they spend time with one another, their friendship deepens, and they learn to live life to the fullest, embracing both the joys and sorrows it has to offer. Sakura’s determination to make the most of her remaining time has a profound impact on “I,” transforming him and teaching him valuable life lessons about love, friendship, and the importance of cherishing each moment.
“I Want to Eat Your Pancreas” is a touching and bittersweet experience. It has a lasting impact and is one of the few movies that made me cry – not just teary.
Amelie
Director: Jean-Pierre Jeunet
For Fans of : Quirky main character, Innocent Love
Where to Watch:
If you get a group of introverts together and tell them to make a movie about introverts, ‘Amelie’ is probably the movie you would get. It has got all the quirkiness – secretly helping others, thinking about questions that fascinate only you, or may it be the small things that give you so much happiness.
One day, after listening to the news of the death of Princess Diana, Amelie is startled and drops a perfume stopper on the ground, leading her to discover someone’s old childhood metal box. After tracking down the person to whom the box belongs, Amelie returns the box to him. But not just like any person would return it. She keeps the box in a phone booth and calls the booth from a distance where she can see it. Bretodou, who finds his childhood box, is moved to tears by the memories it held. And Amelie has found her mission in life. She would go on to do good deeds around society but not in any old way. Instead with heavily planned strategies that amuse her and carefully avoiding any human interactions in the process.
